Telepsychiatry in Moore County, NC — Medicaid Accepted

Moore County is really two counties in one. The south end has hospitals and specialists. Think Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen. The north end does not. If you live in Carthage, the county seat, or up in Robbins, Vass or Cameron, those specialists are 20 to 30 miles off. And the wait for a psychiatry visit can still run months once you get there.

Pinnacle Behavioral Health and Wellness works another way. You meet Afi Kpakossou, PMHNP-BC, by secure video from anywhere in Moore County. Most people get in within days. We also take NC Medicaid. That matters. Living near Pinehurst does not help if the office down the road will not bill your plan.

Serving Carthage and all of Moore County. North Carolina residents only.

Who we help in Moore County

We keep our list short and we do it well. Here is what Moore County patients see us for:

  • ADHD evaluation and treatment

Testing for adults and teens. That includes people who were called distracted as kids and never checked again.

  • Anxiety

Daily worry, panic attacks, and social fear. Also the worry that comes with caring for a sick parent.

  • Depression

Medicine for major depression, new-mom depression, and low mood that hangs on for years.

  • Medication management

Did a family doctor start you on a pill years ago? Has no one changed it since? Book this visit.

We see adults and teens. We are a psychiatry practice. That means we test, we diagnose, and we prescribe. If you need something we do not offer, we will say so plainly. Read more about how our telepsychiatry works.

We accept Medicaid

Moore County has more doctors than its neighbors. But being close is not the same as being covered. Many psychiatry offices in the Sandhills take cash only. Others cap how many Medicaid patients they see. We take NC Medicaid. And we check your plan before the first visit, not after.

NC Medicaid plans we are in-network with

  • Healthy Blue (Blue Cross NC)
  • WellCare of North Carolina
  • Carolina Complete Health
  • AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina
  • UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina

Not on Medicaid? You can pay out of pocket. We will tell you the cost before you book. See our full Medicaid page.

Afi Kpakossou, PMHNP-BC, meets you wherever you are in Moore County. No drive. No months of waiting. Your scripts go straight to your pharmacy.

Instead of the drive out of Moore County

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst serves the whole Sandhills. It is a fine hospital. But a hospital is not a psychiatry visit. From Robbins, Pinehurst is 25 miles down NC-705 and US-15/501. From Vass or Cameron it is another 20 miles, the other way.

You may need a medicine check every one to three months. Those trips add up fast. A video visit fits in a lunch break. You keep your afternoon.
