How Insurance Works for Telepsychiatry in NC
Telehealth parity laws require most insurance plans sold in North Carolina to cover telepsychiatry services at the same rate as in-person visits.
This means your co-pay, deductible, and out-of-pocket costs for a telepsychiatry appointment with Pinnacle Behavioral Health are typically the same as if you visited a psychiatrist in person.
When you schedule with Pinnacle, we verify your insurance benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises. Call us at (336) 828-2599 and we will confirm your coverage, explain any co-pays or deductibles that apply. Let you know exactly what to expect cost-wise before your visit.
If your insurance is not listed, please call us. We are continually expanding our insurance panel. Self-pay rates are also available for patients who prefer to pay out of pocket. We offer transparent self-pay pricing for patients without insurance or those who prefer not to bill insurance. Rates are $179 for an initial psychiatric evaluation and $99 for follow-up medication management visits.
Understanding Your Psychiatric Billing
Psychiatric services at Pinnacle Behavioral Health are billed using standard CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes that all insurance plans recognize. Common codes used include:
- CPT 90792 — Initial psychiatric evaluation (new patient, comprehensive assessment, 45–60 minutes)
- CPT 99213 / 99214 — Follow-up medication management visits (established patient, 15–30 minutes)
- CPT 99205 — Complex new patient evaluation with extensive history and decision-making
Your insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) will show these codes and what your plan paid versus your patient responsibility. If you have questions about a bill, call our office at (336) 828-2599.
