Frequently Asked Questions About Depression Treatment

Can I get depression treatment online in North Carolina?

Yes. We treat depression across all of North Carolina. We handle major depression, seasonal depression, and postpartum depression. All visits are by secure video.

Same-day appointments are available. No referral is required to get started.

Is virtual depression treatment covered by insurance?

Yes. Most major insurance plans cover virtual depression treatment in North Carolina. Telepsychiatry visits are covered at the same rate as in-person appointments. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, and NC Medicaid.

Self-pay rates are $179 for an initial evaluation and $99 for follow-up visits. Call (336) 828-2599 to verify your coverage.

How quickly can I start depression treatment?

Most patients are seen the same day or within 24 hours of requesting an appointment. During your first visit, your provider conducts a full psychiatric evaluation. They discuss your symptoms, history, and treatment goals.

If medication is appropriate, they send a prescription to your pharmacy that day. You can often pick up your medication within hours of your appointment.

What antidepressants do you prescribe?

We prescribe all FDA-approved antidepressants. SSRIs like Zoloft, Lexapro, and Prozac are usually first-line choices. SNRIs like Effexor and Cymbalta work well when both depression and anxiety are present.

Bupropion (Wellbutrin) is a good fit when low energy and concentration are major concerns. Your provider will recommend the best option based on your specific symptoms and history.

How long does depression treatment take?

Most patients notice some improvement within 2 to 4 weeks of starting antidepressants. Full benefit typically builds over 6 to 8 weeks. Follow-up appointments are scheduled every 4 to 12 weeks to monitor your progress and adjust treatment as needed. Many patients achieve full remission.

Others benefit from longer-term maintenance treatment. Your provider will guide that decision with you over time.
