What to Expect When You Reach Out

When you submit this form, a member of the Pinnacle Behavioral Health & Wellness team will contact you — typically within a few hours during business hours. We will confirm your insurance coverage, answer any questions you have, and schedule your first appointment at a time that works for you. Most patients are seen the same day or within 24 hours of first contact. No referral is needed, and no prior psychiatric history is required to book.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. It typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes. Your provider will review your current symptoms, mental health history, medication history, and how your condition is affecting your daily life, work, and relationships. By the end of your first visit, you will have a clear diagnosis, a treatment plan, and — if medication is appropriate — a prescription sent to your preferred pharmacy the same day.

Follow-up visits are typically 20 to 30 minutes and focus on how your treatment is working, adjusting medications if needed, and supporting your ongoing progress. Your provider will work with you collaboratively to ensure your care plan fits your lifestyle and goals. All appointments take place via telehealth from your home, office, or any private location with an internet connection.

Conditions We Treat

Pinnacle BHW provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management for adults and college-age patients across North Carolina. Our providers have experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions using evidence-based approaches.

We treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including inattentive, hyperactive, and combined presentations in adults who were diagnosed in childhood as well as those newly diagnosed in adulthood. We treat generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. We treat major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), postpartum depression, and seasonal affective disorder. We also evaluate and treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and insomnia. All care is delivered via telehealth — no in-person visit is required at any point.

If you are unsure whether your symptoms qualify for psychiatric care, we encourage you to reach out anyway. Our providers conduct thorough evaluations and will help you understand what you are experiencing and what treatment options are available. Many patients come to us after years of struggling without a clear diagnosis. Getting an accurate evaluation is the most important first step.

Insurance & Self-Pay Fees

We accept most major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oscar Health, NC Medicaid, and many others. Our team will verify your benefits before your first appointment so you know exactly what to expect cost-wise. There are no surprise bills and no hidden fees.

If you do not have insurance or prefer to pay out of pocket, we offer transparent self-pay pricing. The initial psychiatric evaluation is $179 and follow-up medication management visits are $99. Self-pay patients receive the same quality of care as insured patients, with no difference in wait times or provider access.

Same-Day & Next-Day Appointments

We offer same-day and next-day psychiatric appointments throughout North Carolina. Most patients are seen within 24 hours of contacting our office. No referral is required from your primary care physician or any other provider. You can submit this form, call our office directly at (336) 828-2599, or book online through ZocDoc — whichever is most convenient for you.

Pinnacle BHW serves patients across all 100 North Carolina counties via telepsychiatry. Whether you are in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Asheville, Wilmington, or a rural community with limited local mental health resources, you can access the same quality psychiatric care through a secure video appointment. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and an internet connection.

Why Patients Choose Pinnacle BHW

Pinnacle Behavioral Health & Wellness was founded by Afi Kpakossou, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with advanced training in psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacology, and patient-centered care. Our practice was built around one core principle: that every North Carolinian deserves fast, affordable, stigma-free access to high-quality psychiatric care — regardless of where they live.

Unlike large clinic systems where patients often wait weeks for an appointment and see a different provider each visit, Pinnacle BHW offers continuity of care with a small, dedicated team. Your provider will know your history, track your progress over time, and adjust your treatment plan based on how you are actually responding — not on a one-size-fits-all protocol.

We take a biopsychosocial approach to every evaluation, which means we look beyond symptoms alone. We consider your medical history, family background, lifestyle factors, stressors, and personal treatment goals. This comprehensive perspective leads to more accurate diagnoses and more effective treatment outcomes.

If you are ready to take the next step, fill out the form above or call us directly. Our team is here to help you get the support you need — quickly, professionally, and with the compassion you deserve.
