Anxiety Treatment Across North Carolina
Anxiety is the most common mental health problem in the United States. It affects more than 40 million adults. Yet fewer than 37 out of 100 ever get help. In North Carolina, a few things make that gap worse:
- High-pressure jobs in the Research Triangle
- Military stress at Fort Liberty and Camp Lejeune
- Money strain in small towns
- School pressure at the state's colleges
Anxiety is a health problem, not a mood
Clinical anxiety is not just stress or worry. It is a health problem. The part of the brain that scans for danger stays switched on. You cannot talk yourself out of it.
Left alone, it tends to grow. It can bring panic attacks. You may start to avoid places and people. Over time it can harm your sleep, your body, and your mood.
How we can help
Pinnacle Behavioral Health and Wellness treats anxiety by video. A provider reviews your symptoms and starts a plan. You can join from anywhere in North Carolina. Same-day visits are often open.
Symptoms and Anxiety Disorders We Treat
Generalized Anxiety (GAD)
You worry most days about work, health, money, or family. The worry is hard to switch off. It has lasted six months or more.
Panic Disorder
Panic attacks hit without warning. Your heart races, your chest feels tight, and you cannot catch your breath. Then you start to fear the next one.
Social Anxiety
You dread being judged in front of others. So you skip talks at work, turn down plans, or put off simple errands.
Health Anxiety
You fear you have a serious illness. You may see doctors often. Their reassurance does not stick for long.
OCD
Unwanted thoughts keep coming back. You repeat habits to calm them. We handle the medicine side, and it works best with therapy.
Performance Anxiety
Nerves spike before a big task. Think public speaking, an exam, or a high-stakes day at work.
Anxiety Medicines We Prescribe
There is no single right drug for anxiety. Your provider picks one to match your type of anxiety, how bad it is, and what you have tried before.
SSRIs & SNRIs
The usual first choice. They work well, most people tolerate them, and you can stay on them long term.
Buspirone
Not habit-forming. It helps steady daily worry. We use it on its own or with an SSRI.
Beta-Blockers
Taken as needed before a big moment. They calm a racing heart and shaky hands.
Hydroxyzine
Not habit-forming. It eases sharp spikes of anxiety while you wait for an SSRI to kick in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a same-day appointment for anxiety in North Carolina?
Yes. Many people book a video visit the same day or the next day. There is no waitlist and no referral. Book online or call 336-828-2599.
What types of anxiety do you treat?
We treat generalized anxiety (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, performance anxiety, OCD, and phobias. Your provider works out which type you have first. The right label points to the right treatment.
Do you prescribe anxiety medication via telepsychiatry?
Yes. Our providers can prescribe SSRIs, SNRIs, buspirone, and other proven anxiety medicines by video. We rarely start with a benzodiazepine. We aim for options you can stay on safely.
How is anxiety different from normal worry?
Everyday worry comes and goes. Clinical anxiety sticks around and is hard to control. It also gets in the way of daily life. If it has hurt your work, sleep, or relationships for six months or more, it is worth getting checked.
Can anxiety and depression be treated together?
Yes. The two often show up together. About 60 out of 100 people with anxiety also have signs of depression. Our providers treat both at once with one plan.
Do you accept insurance for anxiety treatment?
We take BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Medicare, Medicaid, and other major plans. Most plans cover a video visit at the same rate as an office visit.
