Evidence-Based Online Therapy in North Carolina
Online therapy has emerged as one of the most effective and accessible formats for mental health treatment. Research shows it produces outcomes equivalent to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, and many other conditions. For North Carolina residents, it eliminates geographic and scheduling barriers to care. At Pinnacle Behavioral Health & Wellness, our licensed clinical mental health counselor provides individual therapy via secure video sessions to adults across North Carolina. You receive the same quality of evidence-based care as a traditional office setting — without the commute or scheduling constraints. Without the commute, the wait room, or the scheduling constraints.
Our therapist uses several evidence-based treatment modalities tailored to your specific concerns. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most widely researched form of psychotherapy and is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD. CBT works by helping you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to your symptoms. Trauma-focused CBT is a specialized adaptation for patients with histories of trauma, including childhood abuse, domestic violence, and military-related trauma.
Therapy Approaches We Use
In addition to CBT, our therapist is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness skills and is highly effective for emotional dysregulation, self-harm behaviors, and borderline personality disorder. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is another technique we use to help patients who are ambivalent about change or struggling with substance use issues alongside their mental health concerns. For patients dealing with significant life transitions, grief, or relationship challenges, person-centered therapy provides a supportive, non-directive space to explore emotions and build self-awareness.
Many patients at Pinnacle BHW receive both therapy and psychiatric medication management, a combination known as integrated care or collaborative treatment. Research consistently shows that the combination of therapy and medication is more effective than either treatment alone for moderate to severe depression and anxiety. Our practice is designed to facilitate this integrated model. Your therapist and psychiatric provider communicate and coordinate your care so that your treatment plan addresses both the psychological and biological dimensions of your condition.
